Peter Kitzing

Born 1933 in Bremen (Germany). Married to Karin K., PhD in phonetics. Four children. Present interests Cognitive science, Alternative communication, French language and culture, sailing.

Academic career
1954 Swedish States Teacher Diploma; 1956 MA (Germanistics, Theoretical Philosophy); 1966 MD; 1979 PhD; 1980 Assist. Prof., Lund/ Sweden; 1981 Prof., Freiburg/ Germany – Editor in Chief of Logopedics, Phoniatrics, Vocology 1990 – 1997 (former Scandinavian Journal of Logopedics and Phoniatrics).

Professional career
1955-61 Teacher on permanent staff in Swedish Community School
1961-66 Assistant researcher at Dept. of Anatomy, Lund University
1966-72 Assistant physician at Dept. of Phoniatrics, Otolaryngology, Neurology, Pediatrics, Psychiatry, etc.;
1972-81 and 1982-98 Head of Dept. of Phoniatrics, University ENT-Clinic, Malmö
1981-82 Medical Director of University Dept. of Phoniatrics, Freiburg/ Germany
1998 retired

Present affiliation: Certec (Centre of Rehabilitation Engineering), Lund University

Participant in three EU projects on computerised assessment and therapy for aphasics, the latest, Portable Communication Assistant for People with Acquired Aphasia (PCAD), concluded in March 2000, resulting in a successful palmtop based communication aid.
