Background: From 1977 until 1990, I worked as a teacher at different schools in southern Sweden. Between 1980 and 1990, I also worked as a CAD consultant. I have been employed at Certec since 1990, teaching rehabilitation technology and carrying out research in the fields of robotics for people who are severely disabled. From 1993 until 2001, I was director of Certec and later administrative head of the Department of Design Sciences.
Research areas: I have worked with the analysis of existing robotic installations for people with physical disabilities and investigated how a mobile robot system, WALKY, could enable seriously disabled people to work in a laboratory and home setting. I have designed and constructed a CAD/CAM robotic training station for disabled people. I have carried out research in the field of aging and technology, primarily in the EU project, Friendly RestRooms (FRR), of which I was the Swedish project manager.
