My licentiate seminar in 2008 was based on the thesis, "To Move Ahead – The Extension of a Life-world". The discussion leader was Prof. Fredrik Svenaeus, Centre for Studies in Practical Knowledge, School of Culture and Communication, Södertörns University College, Sweden. A summary of the thesis can be found here.
I was accepted into the third-cycle doctoral programme at Certec in 2005. My research involves documenting, analyzing and evaluating how the continuous utilization of a motorized standing aid instead of a wheelchair can affect a person's development. The significance of a mobile standing position for people with disabilities is examined from five aspects:
Existential
Psychological
Interactive design process
Physical
Technical
The research has resulted in the following two developments: construction of a neck support and of an elevation mechanism.
