The focus of UD2012, 11-13 June, was people in public spaces, divided into three topics for each day of the conference:
- Planning for the diversity of tomorrow
- Good practice – the interplay of regulations, research and practice
- Added value – the benefits of mainstreaming universal design
Topics addressed: universal design in buildings, information and communication technologies (ICT), outdoor areas, policy and travel chain.

The aim was to make the Universal Design Conference in Oslo a meeting place for both speakers and participants.
The Department of Design Sciences at Lund University will host the next biannual Universal Design Conference in June 2014 in Lund, Sweden.
